Kingsley Members,

We’re excited to announce our approval of conceptual plans and cost estimate for a new swim/tennis pavilion! Our current 1980s pavilion has served us well, but it’s time for an upgrade!

The new pavilion will closely resemble the current one but with a second-story observation deck and plumbing for future bathrooms. We’re currently finalizing construction drawings with an architect and structural engineer, after which we’ll seek city permits and secure financing. Simultaneously, we’re planning a renovation of our wading pool, aiming to complete it before the 2024 pool season begins.

Once the drawings are complete, contract finalized, permits in hand, and financing locked in, we will start the demolition process. The pavilion demolition is anticipated to begin in October, with the entire project set to finish before the 2024 pool season starts. During construction, a temporary access road from the parking lot to the pavilion (along the playground side) will be established, potentially causing minor disruptions, such as temporary closures of tennis court(s) and pavilion or the playground. In addition, we plan to establish a temporary pathway to access the tennis courts during construction. We’ll keep you informed!

Once construction drawings are finalized and approved, we’ll display plans in the clubhouse. Join us for detailed discussions on the pavilion and financing at our Annual State of the Club meeting on Thursday, November 9 from 6:30pm to 9pm at the clubhouse.

We would like to thank our strategic building committee comprised of past Kingsley presidents (Travis Reid-chair, Chris Delaney, Tom Lambert, and David Newman). They have spent the past year working closely with an architect on designs, as well as identifying contractors and financial options. Despite challenges like contractor shortages, rising interest rates, and increasing construction costs, their diligent efforts, along with Wade Morris’s support, have led us to a feasible solution. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done!
